For the Fruit Filling:
- 3 cups peeled and sliced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- 2 cups fresh blueberries
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
For the Topping:
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (or almond flour for gluten-free)
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, combine apples, blueberries, sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Spread the fruit mixture evenly in the baking dish.
- In a separate bowl, mix oats, flour, brown sugar, and salt. Add the cold butter and blend with a pastry cutter or fingers until crumbly.
- Sprinkle the topping evenly over the fruit mixture.
- Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the topping is golden and the fruit is bubbling.
- Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an extra treat.
- Substitute fresh blueberries with frozen ones (thawed and drained).
