Description
This classic apple pie recipe, made with canned apple pie filling, delivers a perfect combination of sweet, spiced apples and a buttery, flaky crust.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 pre-made pie crusts (or homemade crust)
- 1 can (21 oz) of apple pie filling
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 tbsp granulated sugar (optional, for sprinkling)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Roll out one pie crust and fit it into a 9-inch pie dish. Trim any excess dough hanging over the edges.
- Pour the canned apple pie filling into the crust, spreading it evenly.
- Dot the filling with small pieces of butter for a richer flavor.
- Roll out the second pie crust and place it over the filling. Trim, seal, and crimp the edges to create a decorative border.
- Cut a few small slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
- Brush the crust with beaten egg and sprinkle with granulated sugar for a golden, crispy finish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
- Let the pie cool for at least 2 hours before slicing to allow the filling to set.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the filling.
- Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for a decadent dessert.
