Description

This classic apple pie recipe, made with canned apple pie filling, delivers a perfect combination of sweet, spiced apples and a buttery, flaky crust.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pre-made pie crusts (or homemade crust)
  • 1 can (21 oz) of apple pie filling
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar (optional, for sprinkling)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Roll out one pie crust and fit it into a 9-inch pie dish. Trim any excess dough hanging over the edges.
  • Pour the canned apple pie filling into the crust, spreading it evenly.
  • Dot the filling with small pieces of butter for a richer flavor.
  • Roll out the second pie crust and place it over the filling. Trim, seal, and crimp the edges to create a decorative border.
  • Cut a few small slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
  • Brush the crust with beaten egg and sprinkle with granulated sugar for a golden, crispy finish.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
  • Let the pie cool for at least 2 hours before slicing to allow the filling to set.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the filling.
  • Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for a decadent dessert.
