- 3 cups cooked, shredded chicken
- 2 cups chicken broth
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 ¼ teaspoons baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1 (10.5 oz) can cream of chicken soup
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Prepare the dish by pouring melted butter into a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Layer the shredded chicken evenly over the butter.
- Mix the dumpling batter: In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and milk. Slowly pour over the chicken. Do not stir.
- Prepare the sauce: In another bowl, whisk chicken broth with cream of chicken soup. Gently pour over the flour mixture. Again, do not stir.
- Bake uncovered for 35-45 minutes until the top is golden brown and the dumplings are set.
- Let it rest for 5-10 minutes before serving to allow the sauce to thicken.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add chopped fresh parsley or a pinch of garlic powder to the dumpling batter.
- Want a crispier top? Brush the dumpling layer with melted butter before baking.
