Instructions
- Peel, core, and slice the apples into even pieces. Toss with lemon juice to prevent browning.
- In a large sauté pan, melt butter over medium heat. Add the apples and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly softened.
- Sprinkle granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice over the apples. Stir well to coat and cook for an additional 3 minutes.
- Mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry. Pour it into the pan while stirring continuously until the mixture thickens and becomes glossy.
- Remove from heat and let the filling cool completely before using it in a pie or storing it for later.
